That's it. Five pages. One specific workflow. Clear metrics. Contained risk. This is what gets approved.

The Objections (And How to Handle Them)

Finance will push back. That's their job. Here's what you'll hear and how to respond.

"We don't have budget for new tools right now."

This objection is about past failures with underutilized software. Acknowledge it's a reasonable concern and show how your structure prevents it.

"Show me who else is doing this successfully."

Response: "Here's what I've found. [Insert 2-3 specific examples of comparable companies using AI in marketing, with whatever results data you can find.] But honestly, the best proof will be our own pilot. That's why I'm proposing we generate our own data rather than relying on external case studies."

Don't over-rely on external examples. CFOs know that vendor case studies are cherry-picked. Your own data will be more persuasive.

The Metrics That Matter

Finance doesn't care about "productivity" as an abstract concept. They care about specific outcomes they can verify. Here's what to track during your pilot:

Time metrics. Hours spent on the target workflow before and after. This is your primary metric. Be rigorous about tracking it. Have your team log time specifically during the pilot period.
